July 27,1998 -- TECA, Inc. today announced that TECA Data400 now supports OS/400 V4R2. TECA Data400 uses DDM to provide subsecond record-level access from a Windows 9x or Windows NT systems to the AS/400. With OS/400 V4R2 IBM made substantial improvements to the TCP/IP support provided by DDM and implemented a new native TCP/IP DDM server. TECA Data400 now provides full support for the new native TCP/IP DDM server in OS/400 V4R2. TCP/IP connections do not require Client Access or any other middleware products. Applications using the TECA Data400 product achieve response time that’s comparable to native RPG and COBOL applications. Subsecond response time is typical for most record-level access operations.

Compatibility and Requirements

TECA Data400 is compatible with any number of popular Windows 9x/NT development environments including Visual Basic 5.0, Visual Basic 4.0, Delphi 3.0, Delphi 2.0 and many other COM compliant development environments. Native TCP/IP connections do not require any additional connectivity products. For SNA connections, TECA Data400 requires IBM’s Client Access for Windows 95/NT or any other third party AS/400 connectivity product that provides the NS/Router.

Licensing and Technical Support

Available immediately, the license fee for TECA Data400 is licensed per AS/400. There is no restriction on the number of PCs that can connect to the AS/400. The price is based on the AS/400 processor group with the P5 processor group beginning at $800. Free technical support is provided for the first 120-days.
